Sunday Storytime in Mr. Morgan's Library

Dickens Exhibit Events- Day of Dickens Sept. 13

Day of Dickens Sept. 13, 2012 Panel discussion moderated by Donna Miskend, gave a unique perspective on Dickens' legacy and work with a contribution by Fred Kaplan (selections read from interview click here to read), championing his work through the Friends of Dickens with Mike Quinn, inspiring kids to appreciate Dickens with Betsy Bird, and learning where Dickens fits in  British 19c culture and a short presentation on the iconic image of Oliver with Catherine Robson.

Glitter, glitter everywhere! Doreen Mart showed 32 kids how to make victorian ornaments. No time to take pictures - but it was loads of fun.

Yonkers Riverfront Library clean-up crew rock! Not a spec was left when Wallace West came to the craft room to teach kids how to interpret A Christmas Carol for character design.

Wallace demonstrates key characteristics described in Dickens' text. Then the kids try their hand at drawing Scrooge.










Carol Burrell offered instruction on creating comic book art using scenes from Great Expectations. She showed examples of graphic novels, and gave advice for breaking into this area of publishing.

Emalyn arranged this wonderful display case showing 19thc and early 20thc illustrated editions including 2nd edition copies of Dickens' books on loan from the private collection of Pam Horovich and Sarah Lawrence College.
